To design targeted interventions, the City is undertaking a comprehensive source-apportionment study to identify the major contributors to air pollution across different regions of Johannesburg. This includes emissions from vehicles, industry, household fuel use, and waste burning. By understanding the sources more precisely, the City can implement smarter, evidence-based strategies to reduce harmful emissions and protect vulnerable communities.
