Clean Air Projects & Initiatives
Johannesburg Projects

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) plays a central role in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of its residents through proactive air-quality management. Led by the Air Quality Management Unit (AQMU) within the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department (EISD), the City’s clean-air initiatives combine science, policy, community engagement, and behaviour-change strategies to tackle pollution at its source.
These efforts form part of the City’s broader commitment to building a healthier, more resilient, and environmentally just Johannesburg.
