38 residents came together to learn about air pollution and commit to building a cleaner, healthier community.

On the 30th of October 2025, Tshepang Programme for Orphans and Vulnerable Children hosted the “Breathe Easy: Air Pollution Awareness” community event, bringing together 38 participants committed to learning about and addressing air pollution in their community. Residents, youth leaders, and local stakeholders gathered with a shared purpose: to better understand the causes and impacts of air pollution and explore practical ways to improve air quality in their community.

The event unfolded through interactive and engaging activities. During the “Story Circle,” participants shared personal experiences and concerns about air pollution and its effects on health and daily life. This was followed by an “observation walk,” where participants explored their surroundings and identified visible sources of air pollution within the community. A garden tour then introduced nature-based solutions, demonstrating how plants can help improve air quality and encouraging residents to adopt simple environmental practices in their homes and neighbourhoods.

The event concluded with a powerful “Pledge Chain,” where participants committed to concrete actions such as proper waste disposal, taking part in community cleanup campaigns, and advocating for improved environmental practices.
By the end of the day, the gathering had done more than raise awareness, it strengthened community engagement and inspired collective action toward cleaner air and a healthier environment for all.
