Clean air starts with how we manage our waste. On the 11th of November 2025, “Shomang Sebenzani Development” hosted a community campaign focused on the connection between waste management, recycling, and improving air quality. The initiative highlighted how improper waste disposal, such as burning or dumping, contributes to air pollution and encouraged safer, more sustainable practices.
The four-hour program brought together 35 participants, including community members, volunteers, and local business owners. Through expert presentations, interactive workshops, and a recycling fair, attendees learned practical ways to reduce waste and limit pollution that harms the air we breathe.
Feedback showed a strong impact, with many participants expressing surprise at how everyday waste contributes to poor air quality. Activities like waste-sorting games and the distribution of reusable materials helped reinforce positive habits. Overall, the campaign successfully raised awareness and inspired meaningful behaviour change, promoting cleaner air and healthier communities.
